Memorial Park
With the support of the Village of Nyack, the Nyack Pollinator Pathway began expanding pollinator habitat in Memorial Park in 2021 with the introduction of native wildflowers into the fields surrounding the gazebo overlooking the Hudson River. These plantings added diversity, color, and ecological value to an area that had previously been dominated by turf grasses.
Building on that success, the Pathway continued its work in the park in 2024 by enhancing a large garden bed near the basketball courts with a diverse collection of native shrubs and perennials. The expanded planting provides food, shelter, and seasonal interest for pollinators and other wildlife while creating a more vibrant public space for park visitors.
Memorial Park remains an important focus of the Pollinator Pathway’s efforts, and additional habitat projects are planned as we continue working to create a more connected and resilient landscape throughout the community.
